Hi, I'm Kate, a New England transplant from New Jersey who has spent the past fifteen years building a creative career in specialty food and CPG design.
Design found me before I knew what to call it. As a kid I taught myself Photoshop making graphics for online communities, built my own website where people could download what I was creating, and taught myself CSS along the way. When an art teacher told me what I was doing had a name, I was hooked. A summer at RISD's precollege program sealed it. I found something that clicked, and I never looked back.
Fifteen years later, that same curiosity drives everything I do. I've built brands across packaging, print, catalog, marketing, and art direction, and what I love most is finding the story at the heart of a brand and protecting it across every touchpoint. Every brand has its own personality, its own voice, and the work is always better when the design honors that.
That work is never done alone. As a leader, I take time to learn what each of my designers does best and lean into their strengths. Watching someone on my team nail a layout or find that one creative decision that pulls a whole project together is one of my favorite parts of the job. And beyond my own team, I believe design only succeeds when every creative voice is in the room. Photography, copy, web design, each brings something specific, and the strongest work happens when all of it connects.
At the core of it, I believe great design only works if it works in the real world. A beautiful package that abandons its audience is not a success. A bold rebrand that ignores the existing customer is not brave, it's careless. I care about work that is aesthetically strong and strategically sound, design that connects with the person on the other end and actually performs on the shelf, on the screen, in the hand.
Outside of work, I am endlessly curious. I love history, antiques, art, and fashion. I notice details most people walk past, and that curiosity always finds its way back into the work. I love what I do. I want to build brand stories, dig into the strategy behind the design, and figure out how a single package or campaign can create a real moment with the person who picks it up.
At home, I answer to Graeae, my one-eyed grey cat, who makes it very clear she is really running the show.
